The Justice Department, FCC, and DHS announce the nationwide rollout of the National Blue Alert Network. This network promotes the rapid dissemination of information to law enforcement, the media and the public about violent offenders who have killed, seriously injured or pose an imminent threat to law enforcement, or when an officer is missing in connection with official duties.
Field Interviewer Solves Interview Recording Need According to the National Domestic Violence Prosecution Best Practices Guide, recantation occurs in about 80% of domestic violence criminal cases. Domestic violence survivors often recant, minimize, or altogether deny their abuse. Prosecutors, while being mindful of the safety of the victim, need to strategize ways to interview victims so that abusers are held accountable. The Guide suggests that a prosecutor should have a third-party present, such as a law enforcement officer, to record the victim’s interview.
